How insane is it that the leaves are already changing colors and we're finding the temperature drop already? You know what that means though don't you....FALL PHOTOS!! It's truly my favorite time of year to take photos so I'm finding it hard to contain myself that its time to write up this post. Everyone wants to look good for their photo session so here are a few tips and photo examples to help get you started in the right direction...
-COORDINDATE Choose coordinating colors rather than matching colors. A good start is picking a base color (a neutral color) and then choosing 2-3 colors to make it pop. Don't be afraid to mix colors or patterns as long as they coordinate with one another, and remember that having the 3-4 colors is just a guide not everyone has to be wearing all of the colors.
-ACCESSORIZE! Layering or accessorizing is a great way to add not only dimension to your photos but your own style as well! Don't be afraid to wear that hat or head band while throwing on a scarf and a cardigan. Accessories are a great tie in as well to link colors with everyone's outfits. These photos are to showcase you and your family, so be unique, put your own flare into it!
- NO LOGOS! Don't wear any clothing with distracting logo's, brand names, or characters. Doing so only distracts the attention away from the subject, which then defeats the purpose of getting nice family photos done! With that being said be careful if choosing prints as some prints can also be distracting.
-FOOTWEAR this is something often forgotten about. Don't forget to wear nice shoes/boots for your photos. After all no one wants to see your ratty old sneakers or flip flops right?
- Last but not least wear something COMFORTABLE! If you or anyone on the family is uncomfortable in what they are wearing that discomfort is sure to show through in the photos.
Here are a few examples to help visualize. All of these along with other ideas can be found on my "What to Wear" Pinterest board found here:
